Here are some experiments trying to create robots which are very similar to real humans

Zeno

Zeno

At 17 inches tall and 6 pounds, the artificial Zeno is the culmination of five years of work by Hanson and a small group of engineers, designers and programmers at his company, Hanson Robotics. They believe there's an emerging business in the design and sale of lifelike robotic companions, or social robots.
Repliee Q2

Repliee Q2

Repliee Q2 is an upgrade version of Repliee Q1. The face of Repliee Q2 becomes more humanlike. Furthermore, it has 13 DoFs in the head so that it can make some facial expressions and mouth shapes. We have shown Repliee Q2 with the name of Repliee Q1expo in the World Expo held in Aichi, Japan in June, 2005. In the demonstrations, Repliee Q1expo interacted with people with impersonating a tv interviewer. Repliee Q1expo had omnidirectional cameras and microphones surrounding her and tactile sensors embedded under a carpet and could recognize person's gestures, voice, and standing posision.
Hanson Robotics

Albert Hubo

Hanson Robotics Inc (HRI) builds extremely humanlike robots, including the walking, talking Einstein (Albert Hubo) featured on the cover of WIRED in January 2006. Hanson now offers character robots for entertainment, museums, advertising, education, and as art/historic collectibles.
